42. DELIVERANCE OF THE ELEPHANT DEMON KUVALAYAAPEEDA
The next day arrived and began with a sound of kettledrums. The two Supreme Lords finished Their morning works and got ready for the wrestling match. The kettledrums began to beat so majestically while Krishna and Balaram arrived the wrestling arena to participate in it. They saw an elephant demon, Kuvalayaapeeda and his caretaker. The demon blocked Their way to enter into the arena. Lord Krishna on seeing them said to caretaker, "you the caretaker, leave the way for Us otherwise you and your demoniac elephant will be facing the death!". The man with much wrath uttered, "Alright! Then fight with me!". Kuvalayapeeda began to fight with the Lord. It rushed itself and ran to catch Him. But Krishna however escaped from the trap of Kuvalayaapeeda. Lord Muraari cleverly hid behind Kuvalayapeeda and began to sport with that. Lord Krishna caught hold of the elephant's tail and pulled it in all directions. He pulled and dragged it for approximately 20 yards. And then He gave a mighty slap in front of Kuvalayaapeeda. Krishna began to sit in between the two legs and resulted it to fall on the ground. Being harassed by Lord Krishna, Kuvalayaapeeda rushed as a thunderbolt to kill Him. Lord Krishna held its trunk and made both the elephant and caretaker to fall on the ground. Krishna jumped on Kuvalayaapeeda and killed the caretaker and elephant as well. Then Krishna and Balaram beautified Themselves with its tusk and resembled a dramatic artist
Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram entered the great wrestling arena after killing the elephant demon, Kuvalayaapeeda and its caretaker. On seeing Their majesty and charm, the inhabitants of Mathura became astonished and said, "They are simple boys from Vrindavan but on seeing Their prowess and strength, it doesn't seems like an ordinary guys. They must be an incarnation of Lord Narayana to save us from the evil Kamsa! Just look at Their beauty! Their charming beauty is not describable!". Kamsa hallucinated his death everywhere. The inhabitants of Mathura didn't see anything other than Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram. They described Their gait, smile, sweet talks and prowess. They began to sing the beautiful pastimes and glories of both Lords. They recite the happenings from killing the demoness Putana till the kiiling of Kuvalayaapeeda. After this, Krishna and Balaram heard the beating of drums indicating the onset of wrestling match. The fame wrestlers namely Chanura, Mushtika, Toshala, Shala and Kuta were present in front the two Supreme Personalities. The popular wrestler, Chanura challenged Them both to fight with Them. Lord Krishna replied, "You are a strong wrestler. But We are only small boys to fight with you people. With respect to age, We are young boys. Doesn't this seems to be contradictory to religious principles for you?". It was not been to retreat from fighting. He indirectly uttered that demons can never to equivalent to challenge the God. As a product of the Supreme Lord, we should understand His words. Later Chanura said, "My dear Krishna! we have heard about Your talent and majesty. It is understandable that You are neither a small boy nor young guy because You have killed both Kuvalayaapeeda and its caretaker! So, it is possible to fight with us for You people. I will confront Krishna and Mushtika will confront Balaram".
