SRI KRISHNA LEELAMRUTHAM (THE NECTARINE STORIES OF THE DEEDS OF LORD KRISHNA)

 36. THE DEMONS KESHI AND VYOMASURA GOT DELIVERANCE

As per the instructions of Kamsa, the horse demon, Keshi entered Vrindavan. The body of Keshi was gigantic and his tail was high up to sky. Keshi began to produce a terrifying sound that trembled the land of Vrindavan. The terrible sound made by the horse meant for challenging Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna understood that the demon wants to fight with Him. The Supreme Lord appeared in front of the horse demon to fight with him. Keshi approached the Lord with great speed to attack Him. When the horse demon was about to exhibit his greater force and strength, Lord Krishna caught hold of the demon's legs and wheeled him round and round. After wheeling, He threw Keshi to a long distance. As he was thrown away, he passed out. But he regained his life as soon as he passed out. The demon with much anger again tried to kill the Lord but Lord Krishna pushed His left hand within's the mouth of the horse demon. Immediately Keshi felt an extreme hot as hot iron rod. His teeth fell out and his throat was choked. Keshi died with his mouth open. Lord Krishna received showers of flowers from the Demigods. After the incident, Narada Muni wished to meet Lord Krishna face to face. He arrived a solitary place and began to praise the Lord. He offered His respectful prayers unto the lotus feet of the Lord. Later, He departed from the place after getting permission from the Lord. After killing the demon, Lord Krishna began to tend calves to river Yamuna.

One morning, Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram and other cowherd boys planned to play thieves and police game. They went on the top of Govardhan hill. Some of boys played the role of thieves, some acted like police constables and some imitated the role of lamps. If a thief finds a lamp, it belongs to him. And if the police finds a thief, he is the looser of the game. This was the rule of the game. Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram enacted police constables, some cowherd boys imitated lamps and hid themselves behind bushes. Some cowherd boys played the role of thieves to get more lamps. The game began and everyone played their respective roles. Meanwhile, a bat demon named Vyomasura aimed to kill Lord Krishna. As per the order of Kamsa, he entered Vrindavan in order to kill the Lord. Vyomasura had the power to perform amazing magic. He also had the potency to transform into any form he desired to. So, Vyomasura arrived the place where Lord Krishna and his associates were playing. The demon assumed a form of a cowherd boy and played the role of thieves by taking part in between their game. He began to stole the cowherd boys who imitated the role of lamps. The bat demon took all the boys and put them in the caves of mountain and closed it with a seal. The boys began to cry and called the name of Krishna. When Lord Krishna came to know that His friends were under the trap of Vyomasura, He cleverly understood the trick of him. As soon as Krishna caught hold of the demon, he assumed the demonaic form and expanded his wings to trap Krishna. But the Lord brilliantly escaped from the clutches of the demon and threw him on the ground. Vyomasura immediately died. Lord Krishna then released His friends by taking off the seal from the caves. The cowherd boys began to hug the Lord with great pleasure.
