SRI KRISHNA LEELAMRUTHAM (THE NECTARINE STORIES OF THE DEEDS OF LORD KRISHNA)

48. LORD MURAARI'S MERCY TOWARDS HIS DEVOTEES

Uddhava returned to Mathura and narrated all the happenings in Vrindavan. He also told about the exalted position of Gopis' who were in trance. Lord Krishna was happy that Uddhava's consolation made the Gopis' to relieve from the pangs of separation. Lord Muraari then decided to visit His devotees house upon mercy. He was thinking of Kubja, the hunchbacked woman who lovingly offered sandalwood paste in His body. So, Lord Krishna decided to please His devotee in order to fulfill the promise. When Lord Krishna and Uddhava reached Kubja's house, it was grandly decorated with designed flags, flowers, garlands and was illuminated with full of lamps. The whole house was scented with wonderful aromas. Kubja on seeing Krishna began to offer her prayers and immediately received Them. She made the Lord and Udhava to comfortably seat in chair. Knowing that one cannot be equal to the Supreme Lord, Uddhava sat on the floor. Kubja also invited her girl friends. Her friends also welcomed Them with great reverence. As Kubja was in lust to satisfy her needs with the Lord, Lord Muraari wanted to relieve her from the material lust. Kubja invited Lord Muraari to her bedroom which was decorated with material satisfaction and lust. So, Lord Krishna wanted to shower causeless mercy upon His devotee, kubja. Kubja was in the material lust and wanted to satisfy her needs with the Lord. She placed Lord Muraari's lotus feet on her chest. At the time when she embraced His lotus feet, she got relieved from the material lust and desire to satisfy her needs. The divine aroma from the Lord's lotus feet transformed her to a pure devotee. After realizing this, Kubja said, "O Madhava! Please stay here for few days. I will worship Your lotus feet forever. Please don't leave me". On hearing her sweet words, Madhava gave her solace by His sweet and kind words. Because the Lord is eternally present in the spiritual world while occasionally present in the material world. One should please the Lord with their never ending loving service. Lord will also have a constant thought of His pure devotee. One can offer the loving service to the Lord only when they are freed from the six material passions in the life. After giving solace to Kubja, Lord Krishna along with Uddhava returned to Their place.

Lord Krishna thought of Akrura who was His great devotee and a servitor. He once promised Akrura that after completing His duties, He would fulfill his wish to visit his house. So, Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram and Uddhava began to drove chariot to Akrura's house. When Akrura saw Them, he offered his respectful obeisances and embraced Them. He offered a comfortable seat for Them and washed Their feet with sandalwood pulp mixed with water. He besprinkled that water on his head with great devotion. He lovingly served Their lotus feet by offering flowers. He bowed down to the ground and offered great reverence to Them. Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram and Uddhava were very much pleased by the behavior exhibited by Akrura. Akrura offered his prayers with heart contented devotion. Lord Krishna uttered, "O My dear Akrura! You are the most devoted and pleasing soul for Me! You can treat  Me as your own child! You are so advanced in your position! One should offer loving service and respect like you. My dear Akrura, I want to know the sate of Pancha Pandavas. Therefore I kindly want you to go to Hasthinapur and see the state of Them. Convey the message to Me after you return from Hasthinapur".

Lord Krishna was so anxious to know about the condition of Pandavas. He uttered, "I came to know the death of king Pandu. They are now under the charge of Pandu's elder brother, Drithirashthra. Now He is ruling the kingdom. I know He is blind from birth but now I came to know that He is blind in showering affection to His arrogant son, Duryodhana. Due to the cruel Duryodhana's plans, Drithirashthra blindly follows his instructions. So, the Pandavas are living in an unfavorable condition. My dear Akrura, you kindly go to Hasthinapur and let Me know the condition of Pandavas". In this way Lord Krishna kindly told Akrura and returned His place along with Lord Balaram and Uddhava.
