Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram were stepped into the age of ten. They were then responsible for taking charge of cowherd. The two supreme Gods purified Vrindavan with Their footprints. Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram along with cowherd boys used to bring forward the group of calves to the beautiful forest in Vrindavan. They would enjoy the scenery by imitating the sounds made by peacock, cuckoo and cows. The trees in Vrindavan were touching the ground in a bending posture to worship the lotus feet of the two Gods. Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram would sometimes admire of the behaior exhibited by the trees in Vrindavan.  Lord Krishna used to call cows with many names. The cows would spontaneously respond to the supreme Lord. In this way, Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram enjoyed Their childhood pastimes.

One day, Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram, the chief playmate Sridaman, Subala, Stoka and other associates approached the two Lords with greater affection and said, "My dear Krishna and Balaram, You people are so strong in killing the demons. Kindly listen to what I'm saying. Their is a wonderful place called 'Talavana' where in full ripened palmyra fruits are situated. The beauty of Talavana is just indescribable! Till today, nobody have entered the place. Because their is a demon named 'Dhenuka' who has the form of ass. Dhenuka  and his relations used to prevent people to enter into the place. If anybody approaches the place, he and his family will kill them immediately. But what to do? The only thing we can do is to smell the fragrance of the delicious palm trees from here. We couldn't control as it is very tempting. We wish to taste that".

On hearing the utterance of the boys, Lord Balaram with His majestic arms smiled at Lord Krishna and bravely approached 'Talavana' to taste the palmyra fruits. Lord Krishna, Lord Balaram boldly entered the forest along with Their friends. They saw innumerable rows of trees which was filled with ripened palmyra fruits. Lord Balaram shook the trees with His strong arms violently. Due to the jerkiness, the ripened palmyra fruits fell down from the trees immediately.

The place experienced sudden shakiness  and the trees were fell down with greater sound as if there were an earthquake. Dhenukasura as soon as hearing the sound, he rushed forth to the spot. The boys saw the huge demon and ran away with much fear. Dhenuka attacked Lord Balaram by kicking Him violently on His chest. He kicked with his hind legs with anger and exhibiting violent sound. Lord Balaram formerly didn't do any action despite the demon's kick. Dhenukasura when again tried to kick Lord Balaram, He took hold of the demon's hind feet with one hand and whirled him round and round like a wheel and threw Dhenukasura with greater force against a treetop and resembled like a hurricane had passed from Talavana.

Dhenukasura lost his life. Then the demon's kith and kin with much anger attacked Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram. The demons thought they would kill the Gods. But it wasn't happened. Krishna and Balaram caught hold of the demon's legs and threw them in a same way like wheeling. All the demons were died and it appeared like clouds furiously assembling on the treetops.

All the demigods were filled with unlimited joy and satisfaction and began to praise them by showering flowers on Them. Lord Krishna, Lord Balram and His companions ate the palmyra fruits to their inner soul's content and praised Them, "well done! well done!". As Lord Balaram is one of the incarnations of Lord Vishnu, His inevitable strength is not astonishing. "Adisesha" the one who holds the entire Universe with His millions of heads. So, it was not a tedious task to kill the wicked demon for the Supreme Lord.
