SRI KRISHNA LEELAMRUTHAM (THE NECTARINE STORIES OF THE DEEDS OF LORD KRISHNA)

8. MOTHER YASHODA TYING HER LOVABLE CHILD

One day, mother Yashoda was churning the curd to make butter by Herself. While She was engaged in this work, she began to sing songs on Her baby Child's deeds with love and affection. Lord Krishna came to His mother and demanded to suckle milk. Therefore, mother Yashoda stopped Her work of churning and took her baby Child on Her lap to suckle milk.

As the maidservants were engaged in household works, the milk was boiling and overflowed from the pot. On seeing that, mother Yashoda rushed to remove the pot by leaving Lord Krishna unsatisfied. He was still hungry. He became angry to the extend. His lips and eyes became red in color. Due to anger, He took up a piece of stone and broke the milk-pot immediately. He began to eat butter in another room stealthily. When mother Yashoda arrived the room after a short time, She saw the milk-pot broken with pieces.

Lord Krishna left that place when mother Yashoda  arrived after a short time. She confirmed that it was Her baby Child's doing. She saw Her child standing on a overturned husking-stand without any disturbance and dividing the remnant butter to monkeys. Mother Yashoda slowly approached Him with a stick. Lord Krishna was scared and got down from the husking-stand.

He ran away fearfully to escape from His mother's punishment. Mother Yashoda was chasing Her baby child with a stick. Finally She caught Him and Krishna was about to cry at that time. When Lord krishna was caught by His mother, He smeared His hands over eyes. Mother Yashoda wisely understood that Her son was unnecessarily scared thus, she threw away the stick. In order to punish Her child, She tried to tie Lord Krishna to that husking-stand with a rope.

But when Mother Yashoda began to bind Her child, the long rope became too short by two inches. So She brought another long piece of rope and tried to join the previous rope with the new one. Although it was a very long rope tied up with previous rope, it also became too short. Therefore, She gathered more ropes from Her household and tried to tie Him. It was still too short by few inches.

Even though She tried to tie Him again and again, the rope became even more shorter by two fingers. The Gopis were enjoying this incident. On seeing them, mother Yashoda smiled at them with extreme astonishment that how a hundred feet distant rope became too short as width of two fingers. Mother Yashoda became so tired after so many failures.

He found that His mother was thoroughly bathed with sweat and exhausted Her energy. Lord Krishna saw that His beloved mother became fatigue and felt pity on Her. Thus, child Krishna allowed His mother to bound to the husking-stand with His internal energy. This is referred to as "DAMODARA LILA". The supreme God has no boundaries, no beginning and no ending. Many devotees are still trying to understand Lord Krishna through meditation and veda chanting. But, they have not yet understood the supreme personality of Godhead. They are still running behind the Lord, but they couldn't catch Him. While mother Yashoda as a great devotee of Lord Narayana, She simply capture the Lord with Her unlimited love and affection. And also, it is impossible to bind the Yogeshvara with ropes. As mother Yashoda become fatigue, He showered mercy on Her and allowed to bound His body to the husking-stand.
