KRISHNA LEELAMRUTHAM (THE NECTARINE STORIES OF THE DEEDS OF LORD KRISHNA)

 1. LORD KRISHNA

Lord Krishna, the Lord of mercy, a great statesman, a great warrior, the hero of Bhagavata purana, the Yogeshvara, the Lord of Gopis, the charioteer of Arjuna, the lord of splendid charm and the lord of whole Universe. The story of the Supreme Personality of Godhead starts here!

 Once there was a cruel king named Kamsa who was the brother of Devaki, the son of Ugrasena and the son-in-law of Jarasandha. King Jaasandha was the ruler of Magadha dynasty. He was demoniac in nature who had three daughters namely Jivayasa, Asti and Prapti. Of these, Asti and Prapti were married to King Kamsa. Kamsa ruled his father's kingdom after imprisoning his father. He became the king of Mathura city. Dharma was imbalanced due to the evil, slavery and burden made by Kamsa to the people. The cruelness of the horrible demons of Kamsa made the three worlds distress and burden. Bhudevi, divine mother of the Earth could not bear the burdens any how. So, Bhudevi, Devas and other Gods and Goddess sought refuge in Lord brahma, the creator of the world to protect the world from evil. 

 

Lord Brahma said, " Oh Bhudevi! fear not. Lord Vishnu is going to incarnate the eighth Avatara, Krishna Avatara in the house of vasudeva to destroy the evil, cruelty and trouble creating by Kamsa. He accompanies with elder brother, Balaram, Who is the Adisesha of the Lord. Kamsa will be certainly punished by the Lord and peace will be restored". It was the marriage ceremony of Kamsa's sister, Devaki. Vasudeva, the son of King Surasena who was the bridegroom.  Vasudeva rised his chariot with Devaki. Many vehicles as well as people moving forward in an orderly way and Kamsa drove the chariot for his sister's marriage.

Of a sudden, all together the clouds beating as thunder and lightening, an aerial voice arose and said to Kamsa, "O folly kamsa! your death is nearing. The eighth child of  your sister devaki to whom you are talking will kill you". On hearing the aerial voice, the wicked Kamsa caught the hair of Devaki in front of everyone  and took a sword to kill her. The brutal nature of Kamsa is exposed here. Demoniac persons will always be selfish and used to think that they are the superior personality than all Gods and Goddesses. 

On seeing the cruel act, Vasudeva spoke to kamsa in sweet words and made him less angry. Vasudeva said, " O king kamsa! you are the greatest hero who is praised by the warriors. How come you tried to kill your own sister on her marriage occasion? This will make you down in your prosperity, respect and life. Fear not to what the aerial  voice said. I will surrender all my children to you. I assure you. Please don't kill Devaki!". Kamsa was pacified by the sweet words of Vasudeva and stopped that evil act of killing Devaki. Kamsa imprisoned Devaki and Vasudeva and put restraints, a chain placed around their ankles. Kamsa killed all the six children of Devaki. Devaki and Vasudeva were leading an extreme sorrowful life due to the cruelness of Kamsa. The Supreme Personality of Godhead ordered Goddess Yogamaya to go to a small village named Gokula where Rohini lives and to take away the present child (Adhisesha, Balaram) from Devaki's womb. The Lord ordered to place Balarama in rohini's womb so that He, the Supreme Personality of Godhead can be born in Devaki's womb.

                                                    

Goddess Yogamaya agreed to  Lord's order and acted accordingly. On the same time Devaki shone like a diamond with the holy blessings of the Lord. Meanwhile, Kamsa was very watchful for the birth of the eighth child. He hallucinates his death everywhere due to fear. He constantly and secretly kept thoughts of his death and developed hatred (hate) towards the Lord. During walking, talking, standing, sleeping, eating his mind was on the Lord (i.e Kamsa created devotion by means of a very strong dislike or hate). Lord Rudra, Lord brahma, Rishis, Devas and other Goddess praised the Lord in Devaki's womb. Because of His birth, the burden of Bhudevi is going to be removed and the evil kamsa will be destroyed by the Lord Himself.
